Casino Monte Picayo celebrates its 30th anniversary

On February 4 Casino Monte Picayo celebrated its 30th anniversary with an exhibition. Photos and posters of celebrities who played on its facilities were showed, as well as slots and security cameras.
The Hotel and Casino Monte Picayo represented the glamour of 80s and early 90s. Nights where there were 900 to 1,000 people in the hall. Artists like Lola Flores, Sancho Gracia, Carmen Sevilla, Julio Iglesias visited it.
The arrival of the singer caused great agitation. Customers were used to see celebrities playing at the casino but, in that occasion, Iglesias’ visit generated great enthusiasm among the public.
The book of honor of the hotel and casino, collected autographs of people like the then Prince Juan Carlos of Bourbon (1970) or a Saudi prince, brother of King Faisal (1968).
Casino Monte Picayo remains with activities such as weekly poker tournaments of Texas Hold'em and Blackjack. Now it has five American roulettes and a French one, eight tables of poker and blackjack, and a bench and 80 slot machines. In 2010 it could move to Valencia, opposite to the Palacio de los Congresos, to a modern, building leaving behind the classical elegance of the old casinos.
